Thompson's marathon charity run
By Dave Brockman:
24 February 2004
One week after the season opener at Thruxton, VX Driver James Thompson will swap his Astra Coupe for a pair of trainers to compete in the Flora London Marathon on April 18th.
James will be accompanied on the world-famous 26 mile run by VX chief designer John Morton, the pair raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Both men lost their fathers to cancer, and James says "the care that Marie Curie nursing staff gave to our family was invaluable. That's why John and I decided to try and give back something to this fantastic charity that helps so many people."
Title sponsor Green Flag has already pledged £500 towards the pair's efforts. If you would like to make a donation to this worthy cause please visit www.justgiving.com/thommo to sponsor James, or www.justgiving.com/mortsmarathon to sponsor John.
If you prefer you can send a cheque made payable to "Marie Curie Cancer Care" to 89 Albert Enbankment, London SE1 7TP.
Triple Eight have also pledged a signed set of Jimmy's race overalls to one lucky person who sponsors him online, so get your credit card out and don't forget to tune into BBC1's coverage of the marathon to cheer the pair on.
