David Leslie interview
Proton's David Leslie hasn't enjoyed the best start to the season, with his Impian proving to be way off the pace of the front runners. But at Snetterton - the team's home race - they seem to have turned a corner. After qualifying, David told us about his weekend so far.
The car seems to be much more competitve this weekend - what have you done to it?
I'm much happier with the car this weekend than I have been all year. We'd had one test day last week at Donington where we did a bit of work, tried some new suspension pieces and dampers. I feel that we've made an improvement and that's shown in the times here this weekend. I qualified 11th, obviously I'd be happier if I was in the top ten, but 11th is ok. It's better than I've been qualifying all year and we've got a pretty good race setup so I'm looking forward to the race.
What were conditions like out there - tricky?
Not really, the mist had lifted and the circuit was dry so it was ok. It was pretty busy, a lot of cars were out there so getting a gap in the traffic was quite difficult.
With this being the team's home race, does that bring any extra pressure?
Everyone tells me that it's the team's home race - including the team! So we would like to do well here and to improve on what we've done in the past, and I'm sure we will.
